Broxtowe District Group

The Broxtowe Group of the Campaign to Protect Rural England works to help protect the environment - to preserve and enhance the greenbelt, woodlands, fields, trees, hedgerows and wildlife areas and so keep Broxtowe a decent place to live, work and spend our leisure time.

We have been active in Broxtowe for many years, having commented on the original Local Plan. You can help to strengthen our voice in Broxtowe. You can have a say in protecting the countryside you love.

If you are concerned about the loss of countryside, the pressure for development outside the urban areas and inappropriate development in rural locations then you can have a voice through CPRE.

Report for Broxtowe District Group for 2007

Representatives from the Group have continued to attend the Nottinghamshire Branch Finance and General Purposes and Executive Committee meetings, and the North Broxtowe Cultural and Heritage Forum meetings.

Planning applications are reviewed weekly and commented on as necessary.  Two major items we have commented on recently are the retail park extension at Giltbrook and the application to build houses on an important piece of green belt land at Shipley Gate in the Erewash Valley, which is a breathing space for local communities and a much valued local environmental area with a wealth of wildlife.  The Planning Authority for this area is the Erewash Borough Council, but the people affected live in the Broxtowe Area.  Mr Frank Thomas has made representations on behalf of CPRE regarding the Attenborough flood defences.
