The Nottinghamshire Branch of the CPRE
Who’ll defend your Nottinghamshire countryside?
Right across the country we are in danger of losing the beauty and diversity of the English countryside. Current plans for new housing development could eat up thousands of acres of rural land in the next 10-20 years.
Fortunately there is one organisation that is working tirelessly to protect and defend our threatened countryside. CPRE is a voice for the millions of people in England who love our countryside and don’t want to see it destroyed.
What do we do?
- We try our best to protect Nottinghamshire’s remaining countryside by monitoring planning applications countywide.
- We try to ensure that access is provided in environmentally sympathetic ways for non-motorised users into the countryside (walkers, cyclists, equestrians and the less able).
- We seek to minimise the damage caused to our countryside by the major increase in road building and housing developments.
- We shall do our best to defend the Green Belt around Nottingham.
Why we need you to join us
We speak for all those who love our countryside and want to protect it. However, we can only put up an effective fight if more of the people who support our ideas, including yourself, actually come and join us.
Please join CPRE today or let us know if you would like to be actively involved by emailing the secretary, Mary Ball -
About the Notts Branch
The Nottinghamshire Branch of the CPRE was founded in 1949 and functions both as a countywide body and through the work of eight district groups, whose areas of operation correspond to the 7 district councils and Nottingham City Council. To find out more about the the work of the CPRE in Nottinghamshire, please email the secretary - or use the form on the contact page.
Members of the Nottinghamshire branch receive regular updates on the work of CPRE locally via the Notts Newsletter, which is posted to members and available online. In addition, the branch organises a series of meetings, outings and social events each year which members are invited to attend. For members who wish to be involved practically, there are opportunities to promote the work of the CPRE and its specific countryside campaigns at local, county and national level.
